PURPLE – for preventing migraine in adults (TA973):

• who have at least 4 migraine days per month
• only if at least 3 preventive medicines have not worked, or are not tolerated or are unsuitable because of safety concerns.

GREEN – for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults (TA1172) , only if, for previous migraines:

• at least 2 triptans were tried and they did not work well enough, or
• triptans were contraindicated or not tolerated, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol were tried but did not work well enough.

Green: for prevention of recurrent migraine, prevention of vascular headache, and menopausal symptoms, particularly flushing and vasomotor conditions.

Please note that clonidine is a non-formulary drug for hypertension.

PURPLE - For preventing episodic migraine in adults who have at least 4 and fewer than 15 migraine attacks per month, only if at least 3 preventative treatments have not worked.

Stop rimegepant after 12 weeks of treatment if the frequency of migraine attacks does not reduce by at least 50%.

GREEN - For the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults, only if for previous migraines:

1. At least 2 triptans were tried and they did not work well enough or

2. Triptans were contraindicated or not tolerated, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol were tried but did not work well enough.
