AMBER - (50mg capsules): for use in East Sussex.

RED - (167mg capsules): for use in Coastal West Sussex, Crawley, Horsham & Mid-Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

East Sussex info: There is a licensed formulation of mexiletine available for the symptomatic treatment of myotonia in adult patients with non-dystrophic myotonic disorders. This formulation is contraindicated for use in patients with arrhythmias hence the unlicensed product should be prescribed for these indications.

Crawley, Horsham & Mid-Sussex info: All patients currently being prescribed mexilitene in primary care should be referred into a cardiologist for specialist review and a switch to Namuscla®. Responsibility for prescribing must remain with the specialist.
