1.11.9 Deodorants

Deodorants

THESE ARE NON-FORMULARY. Deodorisers can be purchased if needed. If a bag is fitted correctly, there should be no odour except during the change to a new bag. If there is odour, that may indicate a problem with fitting and the patient should be referred to a Stoma Care CNS for further information/review.

Lubricating Gels

THESE ARE NON-FORMULARY. Lubricating the inside of the pouch can prevent ‘pancaking’ of stool. Baby oil, olive oil and other shop bought items can be used to lubricate the pouch. Lubricating products with a fragrance are also not necessary. Please contact a Stoma Care CNS for further information if required.
